On Tuesday, May 19, Tina, 72, was awarded a Gracie Award for her audiobook, Matriarch. During the event in Beverly Hills, Calif., she spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about being brought to tears at the sight of Blue Ivy recently stepping out at the Met Gala.
At age 14, Blue Ivy is around the same age her mom was when Girl’s Tyme — a Texas-based girl group with members Beyoncé, now 44, Kelly Rowland, LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett — became Destiny’s Child.
“She’s just like her mama because she’s a huge talent,” Tina told PEOPLE of Blue Ivy. “And because she is very poised.”
