The area in front of the S\u00e3o Paulo Museum of Art (MASP), on the iconic Paulista Avenue, became the gathering point for hundreds of animal rights supporters on June 14. The demonstration aimed to raise awareness about animal cruelty and advocate for tougher penalties against those convicted of animal abuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The event brought together digital influencers, animal welfare activists, independent rescuers, and concerned citizens committed to protecting animal rights. Carrying banners, signs, balloons, and chanting messages in support of the cause, participants sought to highlight the need for stronger legal protections and effective punishment for acts of cruelty against animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Organized by activists Kabelo Crespo, Fernando Silva, and Priscila de Muno, the demonstration emphasized the importance of public awareness and the strengthening of animal welfare policies. During the event, organizers acknowledged that Brazil has made progress in animal protection legislation in recent years but argued that current penalties remain insufficient given the severity of many abuse cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the issues raised during the gathering was support for the creation of a Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) to examine matters related to the case of a dog known as Orelha.

Participants peacefully expressed dissatisfaction with the decision to close the case, arguing that unanswered questions remain and deserve further review by the appropriate authorities. Organizers described the request as a call for greater transparency and stronger public confidence in investigative institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


In addition to demanding justice for animals that have suffered abuse, the demonstration served as a platform to promote public responsibility in animal protection and to advocate for increased oversight, greater investment in public policies, and ongoing efforts to combat animal abandonment and violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The event remained peaceful throughout the day and attracted participants from several Brazilian states, reflecting the growing strength of the animal rights movement and reinforcing calls for more effective measures to address impunity in cases of animal cruelty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
