KRAD Explores the Search for Illusory Happiness in “Fake Happiness”

The track delves into cycles of dissatisfaction and the conflict between what we wish to feel and what we actually experience

Finding comfort in illusions may offer temporary relief, but what happens when reality once again exposes the emptiness beneath them? This conflict drives “Fake Happiness,” a track by KRAD that explores the pursuit of happiness built on fantasies and false fulfillment.

The song portrays someone trapped in a cycle of expectations and disappointments, searching for fulfillment in external experiences that never seem to be enough. Caught between the desire to feel good and the difficulty of facing reality, the character confuses the feelings they wish to experience with what they are actually feeling.

“This song tells the story of someone caught in a cycle that repeats itself over and over, searching for something they haven’t found yet. This person has also failed to find happiness and peace, two things that come from within,” explains Rafael Vaz.

From Rafael’s perspective, having the freedom to make choices does not necessarily mean achieving emotional balance. The constant pursuit of satisfaction can become a repetitive pattern when there is no understanding of one’s own needs. “But peace and happiness come from within, not from the outside,” he adds.
It is this gap between desire and reality that shapes the central theme of “Fake Happiness.”

Illusions serve as a temporary refuge, while the feeling of incompleteness remains. The attempt to escape discomfort ultimately fuels the same pursuit that keeps the character dissatisfied.

Through this approach, KRAD invites listeners to reflect on the difference between experiencing momentary satisfaction and building a lasting sense of fulfillment. The story told through the track leaves listeners with a question: how much of what we pursue truly reflects what we need?
